Andrew Whelton, MD, DSc (Hon), LHD (Hon), FACP, FRCPI, is Professor of Medicine (Adjunct) at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland and former Director of The Clinical Division of Nephrology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Whelton received his MD from the National University of Ireland and completed his medical residency and renal fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University Medical Center.
From 1966 - 1968 he served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army, initially joining the staff of the Renal-Metabolic Section of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. and then served as the Commanding Officer of the first combat renal dialysis center established by the U.S. Army in Saigon republic of Vietnam. For the latter combat service, Dr. Whelton received the Army Commendation Medal.
From 1969 - 1996 Dr. Whelton served a faculty member of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, retiring as Professor of Medicine. In 1996 he joined The Cardio-Renal Division of the Food and Drug Administration as a Special Governmental Consultant Officer and spent six months on sabbatical with the latter FDA Division.
For the past four decades he has participated in and conducted an extensive series of clinical pharmaceutical investigations both nationally and internationally. He is the author of more than 375 scientific articles and book chapters and has published three medical textbooks.
A fellow of the American College of Physicians, The Royal College of Physicians Ireland and the American College of Clinical Pharmacology. He is past President of The American College of Clinical Pharmacology. He is a founding member of the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology.
Jody Tversky, MD, FAAAAI is an Associate Professor and former Clinical Director of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
He attended college at Northeastern University in Boston where he spent two years at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School conducting research.
Dr. Tversky earned his medical degree at the University of Sydney, Australia graduating with honors in 2001 and then completed residency at the University of Connecticut. In 2008, he completed a clinical fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Johns Hopkins where he was the recipient of the prestigious career development award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Thoracic Society.
He has published more than 50 articles, book chapters, and guidelines and sits on the practice management committee at the AAAAI. Dr. Tversky has received numerous research and teaching awards including Top Cited Author for the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Allergy in 2022, as well as 1st Place for teaching bioengineering students at the 2018 Microsoft Imagine Cup in San Francisco.
Dr. Tversky also co-founded an iPhone app development company that went on to produce health care applications that have reached over three million customers worldwide.
Dr. Tversky has been the recipient of National Institutes of Health research grants and currently leads a team of clinical researchers at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Unlap received his PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Kansas State University followed by postdoctoral training in Oncology and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, studying the roles that immediate early genes play in the pathogenesis of malignancy and neuronal degeneration.
Dr. Unlap was given a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine, where he began his study of the role that the Na+/Ca2+ exchanger might play in the pathogenesis of salt-sensitive hypertension and began to mentor high school, undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral and medical fellows, and junior faculty members.
From 1997-2007, Dr. Unlap directed the Heritage Center Biotech Curriculum for high school students and co-directed BioTek Works, a biotechnology workforce development program funded by Jefferson County and the State of Alabama. The successes of these programs have enabled him to leverage his experience into developing a unique teaching method that encourages learning through the development of innovative solutions to problems.
From 2007-2008, Dr. Unlap was a faculty member at the Tulane Medical School in the Department of Medical Physiology but relocated to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to help start the Biotechnology Program. During his tenure at UAB, he has assisted in the launching of the Biotechnology MS degree Program, the Biotechnology MS degree Online Program, the Biotechnology Regulatory Affairs Online Certificate, and the PhD Program in Biotechnology which will be launched in the fall of 2023.
He is an excellent teacher and a past recipient of the School of Health Professions Excellence in Teaching Award, the Graduate Dean Mentorship Award, and the UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He works to promote active learning in the classroom through workshops that he has developed for faculty members over the years and offered through the Center for Teaching and Learning.
